Established in 1888, Converse County Sheriff Department serves and protects the citizens of Converse County in the United States. The communications division of the sheriff's office is responsible for dispatching deputies, fire departments to calls for service, and handling all 911 emergency calls. The department in collaboration with the City of Douglas has instituted CodeRED Web Emergency Notification System, which is a high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications. In addition, the sheriff's office is comprised of a detention center and search & rescue division made up of volunteers. Converse County Sheriff Department has a sex offender registry where local sex offenders are required to register at the Sheriff's office by law.
