Early in my professional career I was able to work in psychiatric care facilities and state hospitals. From my patients there, I learned that most of us have a little part of us that wants to be able to completely trust our health care providers with our deepest darkest secrets. After a decade of that profession, I found myself working as an EMT and Paramedic for an ambulance service. There I learned about the sacred trust that people give health care providers when they bring their most cherished gift; their children or spouse or other loved ones to the provider and plead, “Help her” or him.
