Established 70 years ago, Western Farmers Electric Cooperative is a generation and transmission company. Based in Anadarko, Okla. the cooperative caters to the electrical needs of 19 member cooperatives in Oklahoma, along with the Altus Air Force Base. In addition, it serves four cooperatives in New Mexico and other power users in Kansas and Texas. The firm's primary duty is to carry out various electrical supply, delivery and maintenance services. Western Farmers Electric Cooperative is a member of the Southwest Power Pool (SPP), which is mandated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
