The Farmington Electric Utility System works to offer services for an area of more than 1710 square miles. It is responsible for providing transmission services for the City of Aztec. The department serves over 43,600 customers annually. The Farmington Electric Utility System serves residential, commercial, industrial and municipal customers. It works with a team of nearly 145 staff members. Operational for approximately 25 years, the department operates the Home Energy Shopping Center. The Farmington Electric Utility System also works to provide street lighting services. It is governed by the City of Farmington in New Mexico, which also manages police, public works and human resources departments.
