Boone Electric Cooperative, located in Columbia, Mo., is a non-profit, member owned electric utility that serves customers in Boone County, southern Randolph County and portions of Callaway, Howard, Audrain and Monroe counties in Missouri. The cooperative serves 24,000 homes, farms and businesses with more than 2,600 miles of electric power lines. Boone Electric, along with 40 other Missouri electric cooperatives, gets its power from coal-fired power plants, which are administered by Associated Electric Cooperatives. Boone Electric Cooperative was incorporated in 1936 and was the first rural electric cooperative to form in the state of Missouri. It is a member of the Touchstone Energy group.
