In 1949 while attending Western Kentucky University on the GI bill, my father convinced a local Savings & Loan President to loan him $3500 to build a house for speculation. It was no easy task for the Savings & Loan President to justify a loan for a client with no job or money. Luckily for all concerned, my dad sold the house before it was finished at a $2500 profit. From that day on, we have made our living in the family construction business. When the Korean War broke out in 1950, dad was called back up and sent to Williams Air Force Base in Chandler Arizona where he continued to moon light in the family business until the war was over. He was able to finish his degree at Arizona State College, later renamed to Arizona State Universit
