Don Strong founded Strong's Crane Service in 1947. Don's son, Dick sold his excavation company in 1956 to invest in his father's crane business with intentions of expanding. It was hard for them to know then that their crane service would continue to grow well into the 21st century.After 22 years of hard work in the crane business, Don retired in 1969 and his son Dick took over the family business. In efforts to continue being the best crane company in Montana, Strong's purchased their first hydraulic crane in 1969 and a 125-ton lattice boom truck crane in 1974, at the time, the largest in the state of Montana.Dick's son Doug followed in his father and grandfather's footsteps when he came to work for the company as a crane operator in 197
