Yager Furniture, located on Main Street in downtown Berne, Indiana, is the oldest family owned furniture store in the area. Established in 1910 by Lawrence Yager and Eli Bierie, Yagers is entering its 99th year of business. Yagers, once known as Bierie and Yager Furniture and Undertaking, offered home furnishings such as sofas, leather rocking chairs, rugs, mattresses, bedroom and dining room furniture, electrical appliances, and pianos. In 1937, Lawrence Yager became the sole owner and changed the name to Yager Furniture. As the business began to prosper, Lawrence's sons, Jerome and Luther joined the business and store expanded to three floors in order to accommodate additional furniture brand
