The Honolulu Department of the Prosecuting Attorney is a public service agency that prosecutes offenses against the laws of the state of Hawaii under the authority of the attorney general of the state. It additionally institutes proceedings before the district judges for the arrest of persons charged with or reasonably suspected of public offenses.
