With an office in Hartford, Conn., the Connecticut Attorney General's Office, established in 1897, is the chief civil legal officer of the state. It represents the interests of the people of the state of Connecticut in all civil legal matters involving the state to protect the public interest and to serve as legal counsel to all state agencies. The office also participates in the legislative process, maintains an active communication with the public and investigates, in conjunction with the state auditors, Whistleblower complaints.
